I am looking for a phone number to inquire about permits for Havasu Canyon. I imagine that since it is reservation (correct?) that I need to apply other than to the Grand Canyon National Park. I am sure it is on this website somewhere but try as I may I cannot find one.

I'm sure someone here can help me.

Good luck with getting a reservation. They are usually booked by this time of year - but who knows.

Also keep in mind that if you don't get a reservation - if you are just going by yourself or one or two others, you can usually just hike right in and then pay your fee when you get down there. I've had a number of friends do that and they have never had any problems getting in.

By the way - when you find out, I'd be curious to know what the going rate is for a night stay down there.

Your best bet is to shoot for weekdays, rather than weekends. Weekends are usually booked way in advance.

I'm not looking to stay at the motel, I much prefer to camp. I was thinking the beginning of October. I called this afternoon and was told that October is pretty much open, that it is usually sufficient to call 1-2 months in advance. I didn't ask about the motel. $20 entrance fee per person, $10 per person per night to camp.

I was talking about camping, too. They limit the number of permits they issue for the campground, so the sooner you can get them the better.
I've been there in October, the weather was perfect!

My sister and my boyfriend and I took thirteen kids down there one summer long ago in August. We wore long pants and long sleeved shirts and rolled in the creek till we were sopping wet before hiking out. The nice thing about summer is that you can swim. The peaches down there in August are to die for--soooo yummy. I guess the water is not blue after a rain--I have never seen it anything but blue the half dozen times I have been there. This would be a great place for that moonlight hiking someone was talking about They charged us an arm and a leg back then--I'm sure it is worse now. You will just have to shut your eyes when it comes to the garbage--those folks don't seem inclined to pick it up.
