AZ Highways Steals Bartels Stump

I spotted a picture of the Bartels Stump in the Oct. '09 issue of Arizona Highways (pg. 21). We got the real deal in September and now a cheap knock-off in October...maybe you should be a regular contributor, Joe!

Here's what Arizona Highways really should've printed: http://www.hikearizona.com/phoZOOM.php?ZIP=97321

Haha, I saw that yesterday. Joe's got the real deal, and three seasons of it, too! I'd talk even more trash, but Randy Prentice is also an exceptional photographer, so I'll refrain...

My trash talking was supposed to be rather sarcastic (I think I scared off any other posters regardless), although I do think Joe's shots are better than the one in AZ Highways. No disrespect to Randy Prentice, he obviously has good taste. Fighting over rights to photographing a stump would in actuality be pretty dumb.

You may want to double check the credit line in Arizona Highways. I did not take that photograph.

Thanks.

Randy Prentice

I wish I had that issue here at work so I could check again. It's great to see some AZ Highways folks over here (despite any embarrassment to HPP). It's still the coolest magazine in print, and in print is how I like it.

Agreed. My original post was really supposed to be a joke. I hope no offense was taken.

We all know you wanted the title of member of the month for September 2009. But Steve Forbes son won the award.

After a highly debated yet unanimous one-man vote by the HAZ council, Berk Forbes has been announced member of the MONTH for Sept 2009!

Agreed. I'd guess that Randy probably googled his name and was surprised to see it here. Have you ever googled yourself ... its actually a good thing to do from time-to-time. Especially if you're job-hunting. I won't even call somebody for an interview until I've Googled, Bing'd, Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn searched their name. Its amazing what you can find out about some people just by looking at a few posts online.

You can get Google to send you an email anytime it indexes a new search term you are looking for too, such as... your name.

Oh no, that's really embarassing. ](*,) Randy, you are honestly by far one of my favorite photographers and one of my biggest influences with photography (although I'm not sure if you plan on checking this post again). My comment was a joke... except for the part about you being an exceptional photographer. Thanks for the fact check, too. I'll definitely check the issue when I get home, as I am curious what led me to believe it was you.

Bull honkey! I'm partial to the "Waterless Wendy" from Havasupai. Classic! Next time I grouch at you for mocking geology, remind of the Waterless Wendy and the time I made a fool out of myself and ruined my career potential by mocking Arizona Highways. I'll change my tune immediately.

Nice! You better come up with a new creative Wendy! Let's see, two weeks from today I will be up around House Rock Valley, maybe the Vermillion Cliffs, perhaps Grand Staircase/Escalante...we don't have the details pinned down yet.
