Re: Sirena's Arizona Trail Talk comes to Phoenix
Il will be fun to hear of your adventure
Wonder if you could post this as an event? Shows up on the calendar which makes it easier to track.?
Also, is it this month (March) or May

Sirena if you want I can switch it to the Event's forum and plug in a pseudo AZT trail segment so it pollsjohnr1 wrote:Wonder if you could post this as an event?

Joe, you can put it in the Events section, and it is in March, not May. Thanks!

Nice job Sirena!
Inspiring story. Success is measured by the obstacles overcome to achieve it. Too bad I had to leave before the end of the presentation, but what I saw was very well done. Congratulations and good luck with your future ventures.

Re: Sirena's Arizona Trail Talk comes to Phoenix
I went to AZT Talk at the PV REI. It was a nice presentation and it made me realize the dedication and time required to complete a long trail.
Maybe when I grow up I could try it but for now I'll leave it to the experts.

Re: Sirena's Arizona Trail Talk comes to Phoenix
I so agree with not realizing the dedication and time required to complete a long trail plus the shuttles/caches involved. :worthy: I enjoyed the presentation and could have listened even longer. It's one thing to read Sirena's blog, another thing to hear her discuss her journey both with fibromyalgia and the AZT in person. It was nice to see the pictures with the story as well.wallyfrack wrote:I went to AZT Talk at the PV REI. Besides her trail work with the Crazies, Sirena is now volunteering/fundraising for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Northwest Tucson. Here is a link to her blog: http://desertsirena.wordpress.com/ and as many of you know she is now taking on the GET: http://desertsirena.wordpress.com/grand ... ent-trail/
I'm looking forward to your Flatiron/Peak 5024 report. It was nice to meet Wally as well. And of course, he brot up that "Ridgeline" hike....I hope someday I can say to Wally "been there, done that"

Congratulations Sirena on such a wonderful adventure and good luck on the GET. Enjoy the journey!
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

Re: Sirena's Arizona Trail Talk comes to Phoenix
Love this quote- and thanks to the HAZ members that made it out to my talk! I had a great time in Phoenix- went on a mule ride on the Black Canyon Trail on Wednesday, Flatiron/Peak 5024 on Thursday, and both of my talks went really well. And, I raised almost $200 for my Wildlife Rehabilitation fundraiser- thanks to all who donated! It was really fun to meet John, Angela, and Wally, and a special thanks to Ray who helped me out at my PV talk.Success is measured by the obstacles overcome to achieve it.
If anyone is interested in having me come out to do my slideshow for your hiking club or other group please PM me and we'll work out the details.
