Does anyone now about the Forest Service Roads (Specifically FR 538 leading to Kelsey Spring trail)? I've contacted the Peaks District Ranger station and the person answering the phones doesn't have info - she knows 231 Woody HIll is open but some of the smaller roads are still closed according to her. The guy who knows - the Road Tech - is not in the office. Any help would be appreciated - were hoping to do the kelsey/dorsey/sycamore/winter cabin look this weekend IF we can get to the TH.

Hi Kate-

I'm not sure this is any more help for you ... because it sounds like the ranger you spoke with was probably reading right off of this list ... but its the most comprehensive and updated list that is made available.

My only other suggestion is to keep calling back on different days / times of day until you reach somebody with more knowledge. Or ask somebody if they can research it and you can call again later for the answer.

I was out exploring the area south of 1-40/Bellemont on FR 527 and 533 last weekend trying to find a way from Garland Prairie Road to Woody Mt. Road. All the roads were 98% dry and passable to the rim of Sycamore Canyon. I didn't make it to Woody Mt. Road 'cause it started snowing and I wussed out, turned around, and made it back to Garland Prairie Road.
