Horseshoe Fire closures (Portal AZ)

OPEN: Cave Creek Road is now open. All trails west of the Crest Trail (trail #270) are open. Rustler Park; the West Turkey Creek and Sycamore campgrounds on the west side; and Camp Rucker, Cypress Park and Rucker Forest Camp campgrounds to the south remain open to the public.
CLOSED TRAILS: Trails east of the Crest Trail are closed.
CLOSED ROADS: The South Fork of the Cave Creek Road (Forest Road 622) is closed. Forest Road 42D, south of the Rustler Park, and Herb Marytr Campground road are also closed.
CLOSED CAMPGROUNDS: Herb Martyr, Idlewilde, John Hands, Stewart, South Fork, and Sunny Flat
The Incident Command Post is located next to the Chiricahua Desert Museum in Rodeo, NM at the junction of NM Hwy 80 and Portal Road 533, seven miles east of Portal, AZ. The fire is currently burning on land administered by the Coronado National Forest, within the Chiricahua Wilderness, approximately five miles south of the town of Portal, AZ.
