Early July Backpack

I'm thinking of skipping Utah (Arches & Canyonlands) on my upcoming trip and saving those destinations for when I'll have more time to spend on them. Considering a short backpack of two nights instead. Just weighing my options here and want to know if anyone else might have valuable input. I'm thinking one of these:

WCC #17 - looks fun, good water, only concerns are the numbers of people that might be there and the possibility of the weather being over 100. I see a lot of June & July trips posted though, so I'm gathering it's not too much of an issue because of all the water.

Pine Mtn - I hear the views are spectacular.

Cabin Loop - looks interesting, lots of hiking options.

I'd be going July 3-5 if I do decide to backpack instead of seeing UT. Input is much appreciated, and if you're interested in coming along, send me a PM. Only thing is I'd be coming down from CO so you'd have to drive yourself. Thanks in advance!

Pick a trail in the White Mtns. of Arizona.

The views from Pine Mountain are spectacular, but the only reliable water is less than a mile from the TH.

If you're looking at the Cabin Loops, you should also look at the AZT from the Rim north to Blue Ridge Reservoir.

But if you're ever going to pack the White Mountains, now is the time.

We just got back from doing the Cabin Loop--started at Pinchot Cabin, hiked around and spent the first night at Barbershop Springs along Barbershop trail. We took the side hike to buck springs cabin and came in around 14 miles for that day. A great place to cabin around 6.5 miles would be Dane Cabin along U-Bar trail. The second night we stayed at Aspen Springs/Aspen Cabin and had a quick hike out the next morning of 1.5 miles. There was water all along and great scenery.

West Clear Creek is perfect in July between the water and the temperature, however this year the bugs are pretty bad it seems.

The cabin loops would be a good choice, might get a touch warm during the hottest part of the day.

Then again 2 days is plenty of time to do all of Arches NP.

Nice dilemma to have! :GB:

Somewhere along the Black River...you have to hike a ways to get to it. I sometimes lead hikes to it, so watch for me to post one.
