Is Cataract creek near williams a perennial creek. I read something a few years ago that it was but im not sure. I do know that in Havasu Canyon a spring turns it into Havasu Creek and its for sure perennial but what about before that.

That's interesting I didn't know that bad boy went so dang far until looking at the maps! No clue on perennial or not, doesn't look like it judging by satellite. Also very few springs anywhere along it's path.

I am pretty sure it is not perennial.

My understanding from research is that above the spring Cataract is dry most of the year. I do not have first-hand knowledge of this, however. I believe the area above Hualapai is restricted by the tribe and they do not allow access to anyone.

But it starts on Bill Williams Mountain, and runs (or doesn't run, as the case may be) for miles and miles north, through all those desolate cattle ranges, before it hits the rez boundary. And yes, the Havasupai pretty much want all their visitors to stick to the usual trail.
The size and length of this watershed, and the horrific overgrazing in the lands it passes through are the major reasons for the catastrophic flooding that occurs pretty regularly.

Ah, I should have read closer. I know nothing of the creek as it exits Williams. I observe there are several roads which run right down the middle of the creekbed starting within a few miles of the highway, which isn't a good sign if you're hoping for a running creek.

Based on maps Its seasonal and it also looks like there are a couple reservoirs on it as well. As it runs through williams its dry, probably because of the Sante Fe Reservoir. I have heard as well that before all the dams it use to run. Same with Walnut Creek though. It use to be perennial until all the dams put on it.
