Large flying insect

Noted large flying insect, about 2" in size whirling about during sunrise lately. Looks like a locust but I have not observed the color (gray/brown/green) or size before.

Palo Verde Beetle? Long antennae? Sort of a clumsy flyer? They are out now. sounds like it was bigger than a June bug and I think they are done by now.

Was not one of them, there bigger and uglier.

I actually heard a Cicada this morning. I'm assuming that when you say "Locust" you are talking about the Grasshopper variety??? I know Cicadas have been out on various trails, but this is the first time I've heard one at the house....

Think they are two types of cicada's in Arizona, what I observed was not them.
