Hi all,

I am in graduate school for occupational therapy and I have an assignment that requires me to design and produce an assistive technology device for under $50. Most people come up with ideas for ADLs (activities of daily living), but I want to be more creative and do something for photography or hiking because those are things I enjoy....

So my question for you all is.... do you know anyone who has had to stop using their camera due to a disability or injury? If so, what kind of problems were they experiencing?

Perhaps I can tailor something to their needs, or maybe their story will give me an idea for something else!

Right now I'm thinking about some sort of tripod for a person in a wheelchair, or something to make grasping the camera easier....

Any ideas? Obviously I'm still in the brainstorming phase of this project...

If the person is a quadraplegic you could add a suck, blow device for the controls.

Interesting stuff...Under 50.00??? How about some type of "Eye Piece" that would fit a camera view finder or display screen that would help people with macular degeneration or partial blindness, so that they could still see the object or scene that they are trying to photograph. Might be cheap enough to do.....

lol, I think my professor would prefer without ducktape, unless it is disguised nicely!

Exhibit B

Attaching camera to over-sized glasses and using a remote to control camera.

You'd have to include that shirt, too, which might throw you over the $50 mark.
