It is probably a small price compared to the profits they have made.
Looks like I will be getting some money back since up until recently, I haven't hiked in anything, but vff's since 2009. In hiking terms that is a lot of pairs and I have proof of purchase for all of them.

Looks like the rei dividend check in July might get some company from vff settlement check.
I'll be curious to see what the terms are because I never paid full price for any. I have several super close out pairs of the leather ones I prefer for hiking in the closet because they stopped making that model ( the only decent one IMO )a couple of years ago and I wanted something until I could find something else that would replace that model. Those were < $30 a piece and this and several other articles are saying $20-50 per claimed pair, but I'm sure it's based on price of purchase.

But alas no damages for crimes against fashion. Pulled this quote out from another story about the case "The favorite toe-shoe of vegan restaurant servers and 55-year-old men with ponytails".

Will you wear VFFs again when you get back on the trail?

They are still my preferred hiking shoe. However, I have added some other options for colder/wetter conditions. The major limitation for them is the lack of sock options as injinji has stopped making their thick wool toe socks. They also stopped making my preferred model so when I tear through my stash of close outs I will probably not be contributing to vibram in the future. I have found an alternative that allows me a lot more sock options and they are what I've been hiking in for the limited hiking I have done recently. I have done a lot of research into both the issues I had and why then and why I never had issues previously in similar weather conditions. I have both a really good light weight winter set up as well as a milder, but cold weather set up. My wife found me some amazing socks that pair up nice with my minimalist mocs and if need be my waterproof socks. I still have an aversion to heavy or stiff boots, but my winter set up is waterproof, warm even when wet, crampon compatible and snow shoe compatible, and weighs less than two pounds for the pair. When I first started wearing vff's there weren't other minimalist options, but now there are more options available and at least in Colorado, there are better options available now.

i have a pair of the original Sprint model.. got 'em for trying some short backpacks. they sucked. i have them still somewhere around here and wear them on car camps. other than that, they're useless. paid $35 so no biggee..
