So glad it ended so well

I am so glad it ended so well.
But come on people. Use some common sense and stop following your GPS in your rented car into life threatening situations. I sure hope I am preaching to the choir here.

Driscoll said he was with Eric and his son when the dispatcher called to let him know she was alive. She was driven in a snowcat to a waiting ambulance and taken to the hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries.

Driscoll said he spoke to her in-laws Tuesday, and they told him there was a good chance she wouldn't lose her toes to the frostbite.

He said she's fortunate; in the last month, three people have died due to exposure to the cold in Cococino County.
"It can be a pretty hostile environment," he said. "Especially at night."
When the North Rim is closed it is closed for reason.

This kind of thing will keep happening forever, because you will always have new, inexperienced people coming into the area. The Park Service and National Forest staffs do a good job trying to educate the public but there is only so much they can do. Their efforts at keeping the public safe include signs, brochures, ranger talks, park radio broadcasts, road closures, etc. What more can they do against the constant onslaught of millions of the innocent (and ignorant), most of whom are first-time visitors? It's like herding cats...

MSN's story leaves out more information than it provides...
How is it that the husband and son appeared to have been rescued well before she was found?

Seems to me the husband and son had more sense by staying in the car? (I'm assuming this because these details weren't included)

I believe the husband eventually left the car and climbed a hill to get a cell signal.
This is another case that makes no sense - the North Rim closed, the road closed ... yet there they were.
Also reports say she drank urine - While surrounded by snow?! :?

Bear Grylls has taught America one thing: When in danger-- drink pee.
