Re: Dutchman's Mine
Twas about 20 years ago the Lure of the Dutchman took me into the Sups. All I found was a pleasant place to hike with my kids. But I do believe he had ore and gleaned it from the mines near Goldfield. When he went into the Sups he was just leading a false trail, and picked up the gold after sneaking...

My knees can't handle the flat iron. But I may be on the Coffee Flats early Tues Morn. What a way to start the New Year, no hangover, just a hike.

Re: Eyes of the Superstitions
Sometime back in the late 90's my kids and I were someplace near Whiskey Springs doing a lil backpack jaunt. We came across a guy on a horse with a pack mule, he had several weapons on the horse and himself, and there was a pick and shovel on the pack horse. You could tell what he was looking for, s...

Re: Colorado Considers Charging for 14er Access
Very interesting article. From what I've experienced first hand when I was up there the amount of yo's yo's trampling all over the place is just disgusting. I can remember how bad the Rawahs were, but after a few years we have it fairly cleaned up and its an ongoing job. Some of the overflow from RM...

How come when you order a shrimp dish there is more than one shrimp. Shouldn't it be a plate of shrimps. After all there is a hamburger and hamburgers, but no ham in the meat.

Re: Batteries
I used to use lithium quite a bit with my older GPS, when I bought a new GPS 2.5 years ago I started using rechargeables with that electronic marvel. And use them all day without any problem. I've just labeled the batteries with numbers 1- 4 so I know what ones are currently in the device.

I've used TOPO for over 10 years, and just love it. I can change the format and grid lines to use with UTM's, And when I get home upload my track and then I have a trail on the map. Scaling the map as low as 10 K is an awesome feature, especially when you want to see some detail. Here is an example ...
