When I was hiking Baldy west I remember seeing people camp off to my lef down a big hill. How do I get down there?

Does mt Baldy west have very many spots? I don’t remember much flat land

We’ll be backpacking and looking to go maybe 3-5 miles in and set up camp. Which do you suggest? Is there plenty of campspots? Or is there not much flat land?

Years ago I remember coming across some. But can’t remember where. I love stuff like this now. Does anyone know coordinates of anything cool up on the rim? Thanks

@chumley thanks i found it. i just like camping and exploring new places so i figured i’d try to camp near one of these spots

i know they’re strict on dispersed camping. and their campsites are super cramped. is there any good trails you recommend for backpacking? i’ll make the most of this thread by asking another question, best trails to backpack in the winter? i’m not a fan of desert camping but up north will be snowing...

also, how far do you think it would be from fish hatchery to the beginning of the lake?

trying to decide if i should start at hatchery and go to the lake camp and go back, or start at the 300 and do the loop

thanks. i saw that. it says 5.75 miles. the majority of those miles would just be circling the lake correct? the fr300 to the lake isn’t very far at all i take it.

i saw babe haught trail. it looks longer than i wanted. if i started from fr300 instead of the fish hatchery how long would that hike be in comparison to the full trail?

open to other suggestions too
