It should be clearly stated that the piece is not a New York Times article.
It is an opinion piece written by an author with a very distinct point of view and is full of assumption and speculation.
I agree with much of what was written, but to be completely fair, it should be noted that this is not a factual news article. It's a politician's opinion.
