This is the location as incidated above: http://hikearizona.com/map.php?QX=4114The Mogollon Rim Ranger District is currently managing a wildland fire that started from lightning on June 28th, it is called the Rebel fire and is 210 acres. It is located between Forest Roads 137 (Buck Springs Ridge) and 321 (Dane Ridge) along Forest Road 96 in Yeager Canyon. As our weather dries out the fire has become a little more active, this is why we are seeing and smelling smoke in the evening and early morning hours. Fire managers are managing this fire to achieve multiple objectives, there is quite a bit of dead and down material that is being consumed. This fire is helping to reduce fuels in the area.
Depending on fire activity, smoke may impact the U-Bar Trail and Buck Springs area (more likely during the day) and the Kinder Crossing area (more likely during the night or early morning).
There is no mention of any trail or road closures, but crews on the ground can obviously make those decisions at a moment's notice, so be aware and have a backup plan if you are headed to that area over the weekend.
