I'm looking for information on the Black Canyon Trail, north of Sycamore Rd. All I've found is that it goes about 8 miles north of Hwy 69, and that it is overgrown north of Sycamore Rd. I haven't been able to find any more information than that.
I'm starting to plan a thru-hike of it, possibly a yo-yo to get both sides of the two loops within it. I'm fairly familiar with most of the trail as I've either hiked or mountain biked most of it in the past. I've just never been on it north of the Big Bug trailhead.
Thanks for any info.

I've done the bulk of the trail myself, didn't know that it extended another 8 miles north of Mayer. Time for a road trip.

How about a triplog, pictures, and/or gps track to help out the rest of the hikearizona community.

@The Eagle
Thanks, that's helpful. I forgot to mention that supposedly the trail ends at the Prescott NF, so those tracks are probably a couple miles short of that, but definitely farther than I had seen. I'll probably scout the area out in November or so and hope to start a conversation with the BCT Coalition. I know of a few reliable water sources on the way and some a bit out of the way but not sure of their mileage along the trail. Of course, I'd like to figure all that out beforehand.

Re: BCT North of Sycamore Rd
I hoped to find the northern terminus of the BCT today but my start got delayed. I did travel a couple miles farther north than mt98dew's route linked above. My triplog with linked route. I should be able to easily continue from where I left off.

Re: BCT North of Sycamore Rd
Okay, I continued my hike north last Sunday and posted a triplog. I have since found that the BCT ends on a road where it crosses into the Prescott NF. I have posted an edited GPS route from the north end of the BCT, at the Prescott NF boundary, to Old Sycamore Rd. It's about 9.8 miles long.
