Spray Painted "trail marker" in Pima Canyon

Post by MikeC »

Was up in Pima Canyon to the first dam yesterday morning. Some crapweasel decided that it would be a good idea to spraypaint a white arrow on a big piece of gneiss in the wash at the dam. This rock also has half a dozen Hohokam grinding holes in it.

I am struggling with the mentality behind this. Why would anyone think that it would be acceptable to deface a rock with crude graffiti to save somebody the 5 seconds that it takes to look around and see where the trail goes?

Oh, and while I am ranting, when the sign at the Pima Canyon trailhead says "no dogs allowed", this means that you are not allowed to bring your dogs. Is there something that is confusing about any of this?

Bummer. :(

I wish people would develop better routefinding skills instead permanently defacing things to solve a temporary problem.

Personally, even like the on Flatiron, I don't see this type of 'route-marker' as anything but what it simply is, graffiti. And it was put their just because. Because why?
Because you can't fix stupid...

Apparently you didn't you get the memo... it's all about me, me, me, with no respect for anyone else or the law.
"I can do it if I want, but no, you can't."
Oh yeah, since we're on dogs and hiking, how about the dog owners who bag their dogs mess then leave it in a nice bag next to the trail to pick up later... if ever.
Again, you can't fix stupid...

In some cases, reporting stuff like this to the "proper authorities" might have a positive effect, I think. Whether reporting it would be effective or not would probably depend on which agency controls the area.
