Took them long enough...I guess they had to wait until someone set the Entire Rim on Fire... Tonto and Coconino need to frickin' get on the same Page.....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that all of the fires that started on the Coconino so far were lightning-caused (at least according to USFS). The Highline fire ("under investigation" with ignition on a clear day) started below the rim in the Tonto.

That said, yeah, it's a little silly that you can legally have a campfire above the rim til Thursday, but a foot below the rim, restrictions have been in place for weeks.

I believe that is correct. And thusfar no significant fire above the rim has been extinguished. All have been "managed" for forest health (Boundary, Snake Ridge, Bear, and Slim). Highline is being supressed above the rim now even though it was started below the rim.
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.
