Fire in the Peaks
Coconino NF twitter tells me there''s a fire at what most of us call Doyle Saddle (maps call it Freemont) in the Peaks. There haven't been any thunderstorms around here in days, and that's probably the most popular campsite in the entire Kachina Peaks WA, so I'm go to go ahead and call this human-caused.

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

I've already forwarded your contact information to the jack-booted USFS police. Expect them to knock down your doors any minute.chumley wrote:Guilty!fan3992 wrote:I was camping there last weekend.

(Even if I had video of someone starting the fire, it would probably be 6 months before anything happened, and that would probably just be a slap on the wrist).

Re: Fire in the Peaks
I met one firefighter at the Doyle saddle. was told he would like a fire because the nature needs it. now the problem is which one is natural which one is human made it. are you sure this one is human made it? I believe each one i met they all know stage two now.

Re: Fire in the Peaks
Walking the Waterline the other weekend, I noticed that the ground above and below was just thick layers of deadfall. I don't think I'd want to risk a fire up there.

Re: Fire in the Peaks
I was very careful when I was camping there and cooked my meal on a big flat rock. and told the two young guys came camping in the night there is no any camping fire allowed. they said they knew and thank me checking on them. I never did these before to tell people no fire.
