We are attempting to see if there is still a demand for an annual Kick Off Event. Last year there was quite a bit of chatter about such an event from the thru-hikers so we started the discussion. I just found out that the PCT kickoff has become a thing of the past. I am interested in hiking the AZT, possibly in 2019, but I probably would not go to a kickoff. I don't necessarily want to meet all those other people. If I were to meet them while hiking I'd talk to them, but I don't want to go to an event where there are inevitably going to be people who stand out as "experts" and "leaders" and people posturing for attention, or selling stuff. I just don't give a hoot.
