New Singletrack To Be Built Across Babbitt Ranch
The Arizona Trail Association, Coconino County and Babbitt Ranches are excited to announce an exciting new trail project that will greatly enhance the Arizona National Scenic Trail across the CO Bar Ranch (Passage 35). An agreement has been developed between the three parties to allow construction of approximately 11 miles of trail between Tub Ranch and the Kaibab National Forest boundary. This will replace 14 miles of ranch roads with sustainable singletrack, making the journey across this vast expanse a lot more enjoyable.

I wouldn't be surprised if that were unanimous. Even my non-HAZ hiking buddies talk about it.BobP wrote:That section was one on my least favorite.

Re: New Singletrack To Be Built Across Babbitt Ranch
Because of the dirth of water or because it is two track? Will moving from the road really make much of a difference out there?BobP wrote:That section was one on my least favorite.
Oh pumpkin, why is "dirth," being marked by the spell checker?

Maybe, just maybe because you misspelled it? It's "dearth."

I really can't figure out why anybody is really even a little bit excited about this.

Nice! That was my thoughts exactly though the thought was lost from my dearth of spelling prowess.

And I've been so good lately! Haven't been bugging people about "it's" or "lightening," etc. etc. But you gave me an "in" to correct your spelling! It just warmed the cockles of my heart!
As for the trail, I'm with Chums. Meh.

Re: New Singletrack To Be Built Across Babbitt Ranch
Our Section Hiking crew enjoyed the wide open spaces on Babbitt Ranch, one track or two. The views of Humphrey's to the south are not seen anywhere else, and the day we hiked it the clouds were quite impressive.
