Mt Ord Lookout.
I'm looking to take my two boys, 10 and 12 up to the fire lookout on Mt. Ord this coming week. Do they ever allow visitors up to the tower? I know that with the Covid 19 that it might not be possible though. Thanks!

@AK
You might want to call the forest service to make sure they are allowing foot traffic beyond the gate right now. This past weekend the sign said "area closed".

Thanks for the info! Al least it'll make a great day road trip.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Re: Mt Ord Lookout.
Lookout Tower Rob and his ORD RV retired at EOY.
They put up a fancy webcam to monitor things but it was manned a couple Thursdays ago.

Re: Mt Ord Lookout.
@Tough_Boots Yea the gate was locked. Happened to pull up as a communication contractor was coming down and he said that the fire tower was unmanned at the moment. Kind of unusual for this time of year. Still a nice little afternoon drive.

Re: Mt Ord Lookout.
Like many other other FS fire towers I believe the tower on Mount Ord has an automated fire detection system.AK wrote:fire tower was unmanned at the moment. Kind of unusual for this time of year.
