Labor Day Weekend

Post by Sredfield »

I'm thinking Rustler's Park, Chiricahua Crest Trail to the lookout and back, some others.

Anyone up for it?

Yes, that's the area. I am just seeing if there is general interest. I don't have it all planned out, and wouldn't do that unless there is sufficient interest. May just go myself and see what gives. The lookout is on Monte Vista Peak, a couple miles farther SW of Chiricahua peak. It's a good long day to get the Monte Vista and back to camp at Rustler Park. And not everyone needs to go all the way, hike your own hike, it's an out and back so you can turn around when you wish.

My concern is with the altitude and the conditions of the forest.

I have never hiked at that altitude before and hearing a lot about altitude sickness lately makes me wonder if it could be a problem. Any thoughts on this?
