Well, on November 21, we were suggesting Beaver Creek near Sedona as a nice place to enjoy fall colors. Funny what a difference a few hours can make. Here on the 8 a.m. morning of 11/22, the high wind have "toasted" those colors out in the Beaver Creek riparian zone.
Sure, there's some "color spots" left but it seems as if the bulk of the color got "wind" of change, so to speak, and it's a radical difference from one day to the next. Beaver Creek is always a nice place to vist, even when there are no leaves whatsoever. But, don't expect it to be at its peak anymore. Poof! Gone!

I was in the South Fork of Cave Creek yesterday and still had some nice colors esp sycamores and a few maples, mainly the yellow and gold varieties. One tree was green on bottom, orange in the middle and yellow on top. The wind was distributing those leaves pretty well, but most of smaller trees were sheltered. Yep, fall is pretty well over. I will be posting some pics sometime this week.

Due to newspaper deadlines and all, we figured that story was filed "pre-wind storm." Typically, a "feature story" has a MUCH longer lead time between being written by the reporter and being published by the newspaper. "True" news stories like murders, rapes, pillages, not to mention ASU-UA sports scores, can often get published within less than 2 hours after they are "history." "Touchy-feely" feature stories are often written as much as a week in advance of publication. Just an FYI.Daryl wrote:I read in this mornings paper that the colors are at peak at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
