My wife and I are looking for an overnight into the "Canyon" ..
Can I get a permit for overnight in a short time and how.
Or does anyone know of a group that is going in that has a couple of spots open..john b

Re: Grand Canyon
Because it is summer time, you could probably just show up at the backcountry office and request a permit for the area that you want to go. Do you have an idea of which trails you want to hike? You need an itinerary. Also, you will meet a lot of strong warnings about the heat. The rangers will be reluctant to issue you a permit, especially if they know you lack experience in the canyon. It is really hot in the canyon this time of year, and water is scarce. You were'nt clear on when you wanted to go, but your post suggested soon. I would wait till the fall or winter.
