Buckskin Gulch guide

Can someone please tell me if the month of February would be a good month for a hike of "part" of this long canyon and also recommend a guide. Just want a half a day hike or so. Thanks, Lisa

The water will be pretty cold, but I believe people hike this all year round. Even if it hasn't rained recently, you'll still encounter some frigid pools along the way up to maybe waist high or so if you're about 6'.

I would also recommend, when in that area, that you go and explore Coyote Buttes (North) - you can spend a whole day out there and just scratch the surface.

You should consider the Paria Guest Ranch ( http://www.pariacampground.com) as a base, when in that area (they're 1 mile west of the Ranger Station on 89. They have showers, horseback riding, camping, climbing wall, laundry, etc. Easton is the proprietor - tell him Kurt said "Hi" Easton might even horse back you to the seldom visited "Middle Trail" into the Buckskin. That way you'd be entering right in the midst of the "meat" of the Buckskin.

I have been through the Buckskin a dozen times - it never ceases to leave me in awe.
