Group Hike - May 3rd/4th

Post by te_wa »

This May, I would like to assemble a group on the Mazatzal Divide trail from Mt. Peeley trailhead to Bear Spring Saddle. My estimate on length is 8.5 miles one-way... with an overnight stay at the Bear Saddle Spring. Return the way we came in. Distance is moderate +, route finding is above normal. I'll give it a difficulty rating of 2.5
I'll give it a scenery rating of 3.5
the beauty of this hike is the rugged ranges that make up the Mazatzals. Bear Spring saddle has nice tree cover, a small spring and is the headwaters of Deer Creek. A great campsite.

The original plan was to do a 35 mile car shuttle but to ease the pain of high gas prices its better to all pile into 2 vehicles.

te-wa,
Let me know if you want a shuttel from barnhardt back to Peeley. I live about 15 miles from the barnhardt trailhead and I'm free on Sunday. I do have a service at one pm on Saturday so I won't be able to come out to see ya'll off.

I think we'll be fine doing an out and back, I have done the area from WIndsor saddle to both Shake Tree and Barnhardt twice. I was only going to do that route again for other people's sake. Thanks anyway! see you on the next one.

Have fun, wish my foot and knee weren't hurting so much. I'll see the foot doc on Monday. Hope to make a hike sometime in the near future.
