Im going to summit Kendrick sometime this year, thought Id throw out the lure for those who may bite on it. It will be to escape the desert heat and will be either an overnight backpack with a summit day-hike style (bring your own water- none there) or a car camp if thats even possible. I hear there is a great spot near an old cabin for camping if we pack it in.
Im hoping to get this going sometime before October.
any takers?

Re: ready for Kendrick?
Pretty busy schedule for me for the next few months, but I've been wanting to camp at that cabin for a while now. Either way you do it though works. There's plenty of spots to car camp near the TH, or just camp at the cabin which is only 15-20 minutes or so from the summit.
While your there you might as well checkout the Lava River tube on the drive in or out. Before October would be real tough though. I've been wanting to camp up there with some snow as well (easy water).
It's an easy hike with a bit less crowds than Humphreys, but still nothing spectacular.

Re: ready for Kendrick?
I'll say if I did have one date open in September it's the 27th/28th. Whats funny is I actually had Mt. Kendrick penciled in on my calendar for that weekend anyways. Not sure why though, I need to try the other trail this time though.

Re: ready for Kendrick?
cool Tim. either trail to the top works for me. so should we plan on overnight with carry our water (in my experience, i would need 6-7 liters)
and camp at the cabin?
I'll pass on the Lava Tube but I wouldnt mind checking out the Red Mtn area w/ time permitting.

Re: ready for Kendrick?
I have every other weekend open. That usually works out about 1 in 5. Good thing I don't gamble.
If that weekend works for rally_toad, then keep it. I'll find my way up there another weekend.

That weekend sounds fine for me. But I would be fine with any other weekend as well.

Re: ready for Kendrick?
It sounds like I'm the odd person out, so if it works for you guys on other weekends I say go for it. I've been there a few times already and have been trying to see new places. Have a long wish list to take care off.
