Hiking in the Himalayas

Post by azdesertfather »

Hi everyone, glad to be back after nearly 3 weeks in India. Was out doing some humanitarian work around the country, some of which was in Kashmir, in the base of the Himalayas. Didn't have time to scale any peaks, but did camp out in the Himalayas for 4 days/nights and did do a good bit of hiking in the region as part of the work I was doing. We were up at 9,000 feet most of the time, helping nomadic people learn how to protect their horses, sheep and goats from worms, disease and infection. Take a look...beautiful!!! In the winter months, due to the high elevation, this regions is completely closed, inaccessible, as the snow is over 30 feet deep and very avalanche prone.

Thanks joe for opening up HAZ ... I think that is a good idea!
