Peter's Canyon thru-hike backpack 1/17 & 18
Peter’s Canyon Thru-hike Backpack
Saturday & Sunday, January 17 & 18
Length: 15 mi. +/-
Phone: Kurt @ 602-339-8780
Rating: Moderate + backpack
Please RSVP by January 10th.
This hike crosses a seldom-if-ever -traveled section of the Superstition Wilderness. Starting from the Tortilla Trailhead on the Peter’s Trail for roughly 5/5.5 miles, we will leave the trail and be hiking in Peter’s Creek for most of the remainder of the hike. Parts will be relatively easy walking but most parts will be ‘bouldery’, but it will be downhill… AND be-u-ti-ful.. We will emerge from this canyon near Tortilla Flats and then will retrieve the shuttle vehicle (left at Tortilla T/H) after the hike.
Please be sure to get your ducks in a row PRIOR to committing.

Re: Peter's Canyon thru-hike backpack 1/17 & 18
gonna be a wet one out there... keep your eyes peeled for an "artifact" (an old lime juice bottle, circa 1970's?) in one of the pools just before this spot: http://www.hikearizona.com/phoZOOM.php?ZIP=52864 which was taken from ahigh, after a necessary climb. The old green bottle has no lid, but otherwise a nice souveneir for the curio hunter. It has obviously survived dozens of flash conditions.
have fun out there Kurt, I'll be freezing my @$$ off at Taylor Cabin..

I'm almost contemplating this since I moved Battleship Mtn. to Friday. Already know about the first half of the trip and really want to see further down Peter's Canyon. Hmm if I'm not too sore friday after Battleship I'll probably signup for this one : )

You have a lot to learn Mike, pure magic, he can be two places at once. Not only will he be joining us at Taylor Cabin, but he will also be hiking through Peter's Canyon simultaneously.
On a more serious note, if I do anything that day it will most likely be Taylor's Cabin, so Im out for this one.
