Fossil Creek Wild and Scenic Festival

Post by JoelHazelton »

Show Your Support for Fossil Creek, Arizona's Newest Wild and Scenic River, at the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival!
Thursday, May 14th
AMC Esplanade Theater, across from Biltmore Fashion Park, 2575 E. Camelback Rd., Phoenix

There's reason to celebrate Arizona's special wild places! This spring, Congress passed legislation designating Fossil Creek--a rare and beautiful waterway in the Verde River watershed--as a Wild and Scenic River. It's only the second such designation in Arizona history. Attendees will see the award-winning "A River Reborn: The Restoration of Fossil Creek" (57 mins.), narrated by actor Ted Danson, before intermission, and a series of conservation-themed shorter films after the break. View film trailers here.

Read actor/conservationist Ted Danson's letter about Fossil Creek in the April 12th Arizona Republic.

The evening kicks off with happy hour specials and appetizers at McCormick and Schmick’s Restaurant from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Films begin at 7 p.m.

For every new member that joins the Arizona Wilderness Coalition at the festival ($25 value), they get a $25 discount coupon for Patagonia by Ducksback on purchases of $100 of more--for great outdoor apparel and gear purchases at their Phoenix store!

Advanced Purchase Tickets: $10.

Tickets at the door: $12
I bought the River Reborn dvd a couple years ago, it's pretty good, but I'll still be at this event to see the other short films. Plus, the proceeds are benefiting the Arizona Wilderness Coalition.
"Arizona is the land of contrast... You can go from Minnesota to California in a matter of minutes, then have Mexican food that night." -Jack Dykinga
