UTM's and a Roamer Scale
Does anyone use a Roamer Scale and UTM's to plot your positions on a TOPO map ?

Re: UTM's and a Roamer Scale
I prefer UTM to lat/long... Of course, that's probably left over from an arch class in college where it became much easier to just continue the grid information to the dig sites grids.

Re: UTM's and a Roamer Scale
Use them quite a bit, have several different makes. The one I prefer has UTM'S and Lat and Long. Shaped like a rule is white with blue letters, much easier to read then the clear plastic ones. Also use a 360 degree protractor. Take my topo maps to a blue print shop and make copies (one left if case I am overdue) that way I save the originals.

Re: UTM's and a Roamer Scale
I greatly prefer UTM on the trail. I generally print my own maps, and the scale varies a bit according, so I generally make scales from pieces of transparency film.

Re: UTM's and a Roamer Scale
I always use UTMs. I ought to get one of those roamer scales.

Yes Maptools is one of the best out there. I've used this ~roamer~ along with Nat Geo Topo for a long while.azbackpackr wrote:I always use UTMs. I ought to get one of those roamer scales.
