Hells gate #37 south end
How is the trail from the south end of #37 to tonto/haigler creek? I was thinking of driving to Young from jakes corner on the 4th weekend and camping at spring creek. It would be a nice side trip. How far is it to the creek?

I haven't been in from that direction, but it looks to be about a 3 mile hike (one-way) from the road down to the Tonto/Haigler confluence. My guess would be that the roads driving out there are going to be pretty gnarly. If you go, let us know how it is.

Last time I was down that trail it got pretty rough the last 3/4 mile or so. Loose rocks for quite some ways makes the climb out risky.
Road from young wasn't to bad but got progressively worse up to the Wilderness sign on the jeep trail.
Haigler has a surprise for people willing to hike up a ways from Tonto.
