I am putting together a 2 day excursion of the trails off of the Pine trail head. Right now I am thinking an out and back of the Donahue #27 and Webber #228 on the 24th and coming back the 25th to do another out and back on Pine Canyon #26.
I would prefer a loop hike and may do what the Stillernator has planned on Sept 5th. Most of my hikes are between 8 and 12 miles, so we will see. I just joined HAZ so I only have 1 triplog posted.I do not go too fast and I like to stop to enjoy the scenery, ok to catch my breath really. This how I am celebrating my 52nd birthday. Since I do not know of any campsites in the area I am planning on spending the night at Houston Mesa campground. I have stayed there before, hopefully the showers are working this year and it is only 11 miles away from Pine. If I wasn't back to work/on call on Sept 5th I would join the Stillernator and crew.

Re: Pine Trail Head August 24 and 25
This is still on, being mid week it seems I will be on quiet trails. I will be starting both days at the trail head between 0830 and 0900 any HAZers in the area or coming up for a day hike can meet me there. (also staying 2 nights now)
On a different note, anyone know of any micro breweries in Pine or Payson? It is not too important if they serve food, beer can be food. If the forum is not the place to discuss this let me know.

I don't think there's a brewery in Payson, but the Rimside Grill in Pine definitely has good beers on tap. And you can walk to it from the Pine TH!
Here's a previous discussion on Payson food....

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Cool, now I have mex food and a bar near the trail head, thanks for the info. Rimside Grill sounds great I may not ever come home.
It won't be hard to pry my a## off of the bar stool to go hiking though.
Hike happens.
