Hiking suggestions for Nov/Dec?

Post by bkrantz »

Can anyone suggest or recommend trails for a series of good day hikes for November or December. We're looking to escape Washington, DC for 4-5 days - but aren't up for the hassle of bringing our camping gear. Ideally, we'd like to set up at an inn or hotel/motel and go out each day for a nice hike. We've never been to Az.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome bkrantz! What general area will you be located here in Az? Suggestions abound, but narrowing it down some will help. Talk to ya later.

You can't go wrong hiking in the Superstition Mountains. Well, you can, but take a map and be careful!

Yeah, tell us where you will be staying, and then we can recomend some of the trails detailed in the Trail Index. There are lots of trails no matter where you will be staying.

Welcome bkrantz....If you have not yet decided where you are going to stay; for that time frame, and given you want good day hikes, and guessing you would want to take a lot of pictures, I would recommend staying in Cottonwood. From there it's a skip and a hop to Sedona, Verde Valley, Jerome, and of course the metropolitan areas. The area around Sadona can keep you buisy for a week by itself, and the photo opportunities are seemingly endless. Where ever you go here you are sure to find some awsome nature, and lots of great people. Just watch out for the tourists  , That was a joke!
