This hike will repeat every Tuesday starting October 5th 2010 at 5:30 pm.
Easy to moderate for about the first 1.5 miles. Moderate to difficult for the following .5 mile. Fit beginners are welcome but may wish to wait at the lower trail for our return down the mountain. There is an elevation increase of about 800 feet.
From 60 Exit at Signal Butte heading North. Turn East at Brown. Turn North at Meridian for about 1.5 miles until it ends at trailhead. We will begin our hike here.
From 202 from either direction towards Mesa, exit at Brown. Head East to Meridian Rd. Turn Left heading North about 1.5 miles until it ends at the trailhead. We will begin our hike here.
This is an out and back hike, about 4 miles
Rattlesnakes, and other critters are prevalent in this area and capable of defending themselves Please pay careful attention to the ground in front of you and to where you place your feet and hands.
You will be responsible for your own safety and equipment.
Equipment: Minimum of 2 liters water (camel pack) sturdy hiking shoes, boots, trail runners. (loose gravel, do not wear tennis shoes) First aid kit. Flashlight or headlamp.
In hotter weather bring bandanna or neck wrap, ice pack, hat, sunscreen.
Descend in Twilight hours. Good night vision or lighting is a must.
