Panasonic Lumix FH20

Post by sirena »

Anyone use this camera? Do you like it? My Canon A590 stopped working after enduring a sandstorm at The Wave and I am looking for a new camera under $150. The FH20 seems to come up as well-reviewed for the price. Another thing I am noticing as I am shopping is that most cameras don't use AA batteries anymore. I'm a little concerned about the rechargeable batteries for longer backpacking trips.

Got mine for $133 on Amazon two weeks ago. Compare this gallery from my new Lumix http://hikearizona.com/photoset.php?ID=14316 with this one from my old beat up P&S http://hikearizona.com/photoset.php?ID=14238 . But if you order from Amazon, beware that different colors of the exact same model, all brand new, may come from different dealers. Mine was silver and Amazon-sourced.

p.s. You can always buy extra batteries. Best part is they are rechargeable, and the camera comes with one battery and a charger. And, of course, using rechargeable batteries is more enviromentally friendly. ;-)

p.p.s - The recharegables are also much lighter per unit than two (or even one) AA ...
