Friday 3/11 Snowshoe

Post by BobP »

I'm planning on snowshoeing either Humphrey's or taking a route up Kendrick from Crowley to recon for a future overnight. I'll be leaving the valley probably around 5am. Pm me if your interested.

Wish I was in town. Wanted to put a couple more days on the new snowshoes. Particularly uphill. As it stands the snow will be gone by the time I get back. :-({|=

Good luck with that, maybe you'll get some new snow. On Monday, despite the fresh stuff over the weekend, the snow was worse than the previous week. The wind had taken most of what had fallen from the big storm 10 days ago, and previous week's boot tracks were on pedestals. Down low it was fine going up, but sloppy and sliddy coming down. I would pass on Kendrick, but that is me. I don't really like Kendrick, and would do an overnight in a big winter, one such as last year. Since Kendrick involves a lot of approach, the snow will be really thin or gone below 7500' to 8000' by the 11th, unless another good storm comes. It's March, the sun is strong and the Equinox is now a mere 18 days away.
