AAdvice on route in supes

Post by tdefrane »

DiIm planning on starting at perralta and doing a 3 day leisurely loop but want advice on clock vs counterclockwise.

Original plan was to go west on Dutchman's (104) then take it up to la barge for night 1. Wake up and take a slow walk over to chalebois and then over to bull pass and camp on top of black top mesa. Last day head down BTM and go down either peralta or terrapin. Im wondering now if I should do this counterclockwise so I can count on water at end of day 2 and then also do the big climb for BTM on day 1. Thoughts???

Btw. Thanks so much for everything you guys do at haz and the contributors. This site seriously kills my productivity. :)

Btw posted on my phone helping me pass time in miring I10 traffic so pardon typos

Either way is fine just please don't text while hiking the Supers as that would be more dangerous than I10 any day! :stretch:

It's getting hot out there after this weekend, and I'm not sure if you will find water anywhere other than LaBarge and Charlesbois. (Check for any recent triplogs)

I would recommend you plan on resupplying on day 2. If you are burning through the supply your haul out on day 1 faster than anticipated, you can abort your plans and modify them to go nearer to water.
