Copper Camp Loop 3/10/2012
This loop starts at the Mormon Grove TH and takes Little Saddle Trail to Sheep Creek to Copper camp trail. We stop at the Copper camp and go cross country (on an old horse route) via Cypress Ridge over to the Sheep Creek trail (close to the site of the Sheep Creek cabin). Then take the Sheep Creek trail back to the Little Saddle trail.
A portion of this loop is on the Arizona trail. We’ll pass numerous corrals, ruins and camps.
The milage is 24miles with 5,800 EAG.
The meeting place & time is 6am @ the Wendy's in Fountain hills (Bee-Line and Shea)
The access to the TH requires 4x4 vehicles. Let's carpool up to the TH. I can carry 2~3 passengers in my Jeep.
The Sheep Creek usually has water, so it would be a good idea to bring a filter.

This Copper Camp Loop.. http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=1418 is Ken's hike. It's an annual event and he knows it well. This will be the 7th year in a row that he has led this hike

Wasn't there a helicopter ride involved one year?

Yep, that's what we did. As Ken says, the Cypress Ridge route from Copper Camp to Sheep Creek is an old historical route - quite interesting (and steep)te-wa wrote:Ken, you're nuts. i would maybe do this as a backpack..

Friggin Rambos!!!!!!!
I do like topohikers avatar. You would have to be listening to Slayer to make that hike.

I'm planning to come part way and back on Copper Camp trail or head off trail to a summit on my list. To keep things simple I'll drive too.
