Food Dehydrators

Post by GTG_AZH »

Fry's Marketplace has marked down their food dehydrators and accesories to 50% off. Some of you backpackers may want to move on this. I got a four tray dehydrator for $26.99 and the extra sets of two trays are $4.96 each.

Hi GTG,

Caught the end of a cooking show on HGTV yesterday and they were talking about drying foods in the microwave. She dried slice apples, oranges, lemons, strawberries and (roma) tomatos by placing them on about 5 sheets of papertowels in the microwave set to 30% power for 45 Minutes (yep that was 45 min.). Here's the URL but they don't go into the dehydrating like I would have liked. http://www.hgtv.com/HGTV/project/0,1158 ... 99,00.html

I haven't tried it yet but I am going to.

Also, that price you mentioned is a lot better then what I paid for mine. It too has 4 layers.

Thanks for the tip GTG, I've been wanting a dehydrator for awhile!

Wish I would've caught that show Azscrapper, they'll probably be rerunning it again don't ya think? Let me know if you try it out and it actually works (I'll keep my dehydrator in the box until then-- )
