My coworker took pictures of a black bear a few days ago and brought them into work. He said the bear was just off the roadway, somewhere near Grandview Point.

One of my co-workers said her friend saw one too - didn't get details of when or where.
Same co-worker hit an elk driving back from Flag recently ... I'm more scared of that than I am bears or mountain lions.

The dry year has made it very rough on bears, and they're ranging very far afield looking for food and water. I won't be surprised to read about bears from the Diablo Range (southeast of San Jose, CA) if they make news in the coming months. Fire season here in California is just getting started.
