overnighter meaning....?? so hike out like mad men(and me) on saturday, camp sat night and hike back sunday? be back in phx by sunday evening? (or in your case flagstaff)
hmmmm...i will have to think about this one, let me ask the crew!
I'm interested, particularly since I walked the below-the-rim version of much of this earlier this year. However, I won't know if that weekend will work for a while - so I'll just keep it at 'thinking about it'.

Desert View campground is FirstCome FirstServe....
I'll probably be leaving Flagstaff, Friday, between 4 & 5 pm to (hopefully) get a spot...
(I checked it out a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon...appeared to be 3/4's full)
Everyone is invited to stay at my site of course...

We will most definitely snuggle into your site with you
From what I can recall of Desert View there aren't many thick trees for hammocks in the area anymore...it's been a few years though, probably best just to bring the tarp tent either way huh? less to pack i think.
what's the weather like up there in october? I've always gone in the dead heat of summer...
Oct should be very NICE...(on the bottom edge of "cool" at night though)
What kind of tarp-tent do you own? Have been checking those out myself...
I also don't think there are any hammock setups near the cape either...

cool as in....70's? Because anything below 75 I get hypothermia you think I'm joking don't you?
I don't do cold so well but I can do the hike easily enough, just want to plan ahead if I need gloves or any other "cool weather gear"...I totally lost my gloves somewhere on Humphrey's during a pit stop...
After seeing this point from the river a couple of weeks ago, I'm TOTALLY psyched about it! May be able to get up there early, as I might be doing a project at the South Rim earlier that week. Will keep everyone posted.

hey SP, so when are you leaving to drive up? Vince and I can drive up to Flag and meet you unless someone from down here (JOHN!) wants to carpool us up to you (we're DONE driving thanks to our 2200 mile tahoe/yosemite vacation)
just need to know some specifics (you know how i am with details...usually...sometimes....ok, just this once)

I am happy to drive all of us up from Phoenix. All I would ask for is some gas money. We can figure out logistics when the date gets closer.
