New River Mesa ... cave?
Anybody know anything about the back square http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ID=302730 at the base of New River Mesa?

Re: New River Mesa ... cave?
I'd have to see it in person, but to me, it doesn't look like a cave. It looks like the shade from the rock wall(s). No cave/adit is square-shaped like that. But if there was a trail to that site, it might be worth checking out.

We've been back there a number of times and it is a shadow. There are some tall red spires in that area.
Sorry, cuz that would be one
of a cave.

I figured maybe it was prepper preparing for the Mayan Apocalypse.

Sounds like a new project for Mel Gibson.kingsnake wrote:I figured maybe it was prepper preparing for the Mayan Apocalypse.
I have to admit that in my 57 years here in the valley,I still don't know where the cave of Cave Creek is.
Where the heck is it?
Also I want to know where the seven springs of Seven Springs are?
Here is an interesting link to the disappearance of Jeff Cross that I mentioned yesterday and to the best of my knowledge he has never been found.

@Alston Neal
Regarding Jeff Cross. A Cave Creek local I talked to a few weeks ago during a hike at Spur Cross told me the story of Jeff Cross and said his body had been found on top of Skull Mesa. I don't know if this is true because some of his other stories were exagerations.

Hmmmm have not heard that. Most believed he was dumped down a mine shaft and as we all know there are no shortage of those in that area.

Re: New River Mesa ... cave?
The Cave along Cave Creek is a large natural alcove on the west side (facing east) of the Creek in a residential area within the town limits. It has deep prehistoric middens, there are bedrock metates in front and pictographs (red) on the walls to the rear. It is located on private property and I believe the property was donated to the Desert Foothills Land Trust years ago. It's location has always been kept fairly confidential to prevent vandalism.

Re: New River Mesa ... cave?
Thank you Happy Camper for that info.
I would of thought it would be much farther up river. But now it makes sense why it is not common knowledge... ;)
