Willow Valley/Verde Hotsprings September 27th/28th

Post by pfredricks »

Would anyone be up for willow valley in the morning with some relaxing for tired muscles and perhaps cocktails/high tea at the Verde Hot Springs afterward?

Pete, I edited this post a little (a lot actually) because it didn't make any sense when I split the topic off of the other willow valley one. Feel free to edit this out and change your message to say anthing you want

Car poolin is fine. If anyone needs a ride let me know. I have a little suv that tackles things pretty well, but is not a 4x4, , , is four wheel drive necessary?

I don't care where we all meet up, as long as There's coffee near by!!

I've never been down there before but I would guess that as long as you have some clearance you should be OK.

It wouldn't be the first time I had to get out and push...

Hey Pete, are you planning on bringing that neat little stove of yours? If so can I plan on using it too? I'll kick in for a new cartridge if you need it.

If we are car camping, I will be bringing the coleman super single burner.
We can make coffee/dinner/breakfast with that.

I need to figure out how to make a Cafe Mocha or caramel macchiato on the trail.

My off road vehicle (toyota camry) only has two wheel drive also, but I would think we could make it.

I think a good friend of mine is planning on coming as well, provided his schedule is agreeable
Matt, Did you want to make this a formal group hike??

I was thinking about posting it as a group hike but that seems like so much work considering how easily its all coming to gether as is.

Michelle will be joining me for the camping portion of the trip (she'll meet us in strawberry on the way down to VHS saturday afternoon).

Are we car camping? I'd rather camp down by the springs if possible. Or, at least away from the cars (car=road=other groups of people).

I don't know about caramel but you can make a servicable mocha with cocoa mix and instant coffee. (use only 1/2 to 2/3 the amount of liquid for the instant coffee), if you need whipped cream on it then I don't know what to tell you...

It sounds like everything is coming together. . . This will be my first group hike. I've only hiked alone or with one person, so I'm really looking forward to meeting ya"all.

just one question as I look through the communication line. Could it be that I'm the only estrogen on this trip? If so, perhaps we could post it on the group hikes and I see if we attract like creatures??? Just I thought : queen :

There is a group hike posted. If you want to sign up for the hike you have to register for the HAZMatch deal also.

Heres the link: http://hikearizona.com/dex2/group-VIEW.php?GID=29

I've decided to trust you about the camping sight pete. I'll yield and car camp.

I don't know that anybody would see it tucked away in the forum so I put it up on the front page.

Only the leader of the hike needs to be registered through HAZ Match, anybody else can join the group. If sophia type creatures are the majority I'm definitely IN!, actually I work that day

Darn, I'm out of town that weekend. I do want to get out on a group hike again sometime and this would be a good one.

I want to confirm that this is a Willow "Valley" hike not willow springs? I have an extra dry bag is someone needs to use it?

I've done the clear creek west hike, it looks like this isn't too far from it? is the terrain the same?

hmm, I'm full of questions today :?:

willow valley

Post by pfredricks »

I think Matt made an error. I read this trip to be described as Willow Valley also. I somehow became the group leader, but did not set up the name. I dont know how to change it though.

I have asked two friends from the estrogen set to attend. They may not be so inclined to attend a trip such as this, but, hey I tried.

Dont know about the west clear creek thing.

Yeah, I screwed up. I guess I was thinking WILLOW valley and Verde hot SPRINGS and just kind of merged the two together. I tried to edit it out but that doesn't seem to be an option. Joe if its not too much trouble, could you correct that for me?

The hike is actually Willow Valley, sorry for the confusion.

I think the terrain should be similar to West Clear, but I've never been to either one so I can't say for sure. Just on the basis of proximity though they should at least be similar.

Willow Valley it is then. Good, it looked like a much better hike then willow springs. Am I the only one coming up from I-17?

And Pete, thanks for the estrogen attempt, perhaps other like persons will surface and be up the challenge by the end of the week. if not, I will have to stand alone in representing my gender. :D

Naw, I am coming up I-17 also. My house is on the westside. Maybe we could all meet up at the Starbucks on Peoria Avenue just west of the 17 (Metro center location)

Matt-by the way-you are forgiven. I am glad you are coming.

I think I am gonna buy one of those waterproof backpack thingies-boundry bag or whatever since this is a short trip, all I need is some lunch and safety supplies etc
