superstition trails

Post by Katrina07 »

Anyone wants to join me - superstition trails this sat or sun 4-8 4-9 -------let me know!
I'm thinking the Dutchman Trail or the Bluff spring area - i have several areas here on the map - it seems to me they're all in the same vicinity.

I already have plans, but.....

You're going to need to be more specific to get people to respond. Which "superstition trails" did you have in mind?

I think they were hoping you could post some specifics about your preferred trails. There are at least 500 miles of identifiable trails in the Superstition Wilderness. Matt was asking if you could post your intentions so we could all determine the itenerary. If you look at the top of the page, you can click the "link a hike" tab and add your best choices for this hike.

I strongly invite you to consider joining this weekend's Superstition group hike because we are all so dang cool that you'll prolly be asking for our autographs by the end of the weekend. Especially mine. Or maybe you will just point and laugh at us. :sl:
I'll let you make that call. here's a link to the hike in question: http://www.hikearizona.com/dex2/viewtop ... f=4&t=3189

I was just curious. You are new here I think and I wasn't sure if you'd been hiking before :) It also helps in recommending somewhere in the Supers to hike. That's some rough country and I wouldn't send a first timer up Peters Mesa :)

I think the Dutchman trail would be great. It'll give you a chance to get to know the area without climbing up crazy trails. It's a great trail to follow. :)

Wish I could join you but I'll be working.

I've found when questioning someone's hiking ability (as is necessary when leading or organizing hikes or even recommending hikes) they often can walk me into the ground.

The Dutchman is a good introduction to the Supes, it's actually a trail.

It's fairly difficult to get lost on the Black Mesa Loop, but people have managed in the past :(

I wouldn't recommend you do Bluff Springs on your very first trip simply because there's one spot where many get lost who are not familiar with the typical now-you-see-it, now-you-don't style of Supes trail (near Fritzki's "Upper Barks Canyon").

Google "soakers bible"

I have been to them all, multiple times. Easiest & most scenic access is by canoe or raft launching downstream from just below Hoover Dam (permit req'd) or an upstream paddle from Willow Beach, Az.(no permit req'd) Paddling upstream of Ringbolt there is some current that will work significantly against you if they have the Dam turbines WFO.

So, you're in Phoenix........ what local area hikes have you done recently?

What's up with that?

If you are referring to my trip this coming weekend, you are more than welcome.

I don't know anything about the hot springs. I've only been to one here in AZ, and it seemed to attract a certain "type" of person. Not my cup of tea, I decided. I'm sure not all of the hot springs are so "hippie"....or maybe they are. I don't know.

Hi,
I am student at ASU and next week is spring break. I am ready to hike on Sunday. I don't have a car and would require a ride and I am ready to share the gas. I stay in Tempe. Let me know.
Thanks.
