Mazatzal Peak Loop Sat. June 5th

Post by Tough_Boots »

I'm lookin' to do the whole loop (about 15 miles). I did the Barnhardt Trail this past weekend and want more. My plans are doing it counterclockwise and going up Barnhardt Trail, to the Mazatzal Divide, and back down the Y-Bar unless someone is partial to going the other way around. I will leave the east valley around 6 or 7am. Anyone interested?

I would be interested in going with you part way if work permits. Now is a good time to go before the creeks start drying up...

This is a classic Mazzie Loop Hike! A week away from 6/5 and our summer temps have arrived. With an early start from 4200' elev at TH +2440 to highpoint and 3500+ AEG, hiking this one will suck up a lot of water.. I'd just keep an eye on the TH fcst and plan accordingly--> http://hikearizona.com/forecast.php?e=T ... RVd01qaz0=

I took the Barnhardt trail to the Mazzy Divide the other weekend and it wasn't too bad. I figure the loop only adds a couple extra miles downhill. I'll keep an eye on the temps up there-- it definitely does suck up some water. Its probably a good idea to take two hydration kits. If no one is solid to come along on this one, I might cancel though.

Keep me posted. There's still some water up there but its drying up quick!

The hike is on for sure. I got a couple folks tagging along on my end. We're going to leave at 6am since everyone seems to have evening plans including myself.
