Paradise Valley shuttle will take hikers to Camelback Mountain

Record-setting temperatures may be keeping some people from venturing out to experience the Valley's many hiking options.

But it doesn't mean that Paradise Valley and Phoenix officials aren't beginning to deal with a problematic hiking attraction.

As a short-term solution to parking and congestion problems at Camelback Mountain, a shuttle will provide weekend service from the Paradise Valley Town Hall parking lot to the Echo Canyon Trailhead.

The lot, more than 2 miles from the trailhead, is one of the few places to park legally between the mountain and Town Hall. Paradise Valley officials recently put parking restrictions on the western side of 56th Street, about a mile from the trailhead.

Town Manager Jim Bacon said the shuttle service will be available for a fee on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, except...
