I was up on the Esperero trail in the Catalinas today and I came across this bug crawling really slowly across the snow on the trail. It was between 1.5 and 2 inches long, and it looked like a giant ant or a giant termite, or maybe like a wingless wasp. It's abdomen had yellow and black stripes.
Anyone know what this is?
What the heck is this bug?

Can't tell for sure because you're not quite close enough, but looks and sounds like a Jerusalem Cricket.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"
