Maps etc. in Sedona
A quick FYI for anyone heading up to Sedona- Canyon Outfitters on 89A in West Sedona is a good place to pick up a map and other hiking needs. Haven't yet found anything else in the immediate area.

Sedona info sources
Thanks for alerting people to Sedona's 'only' outdoor outfitter. Sedona is unusual in many ways and that's a topic not suitable for this hiking group. But we feel it's a bit odd that it's generally not necessarily easy or convenient to obtain books and maps on the area. Sure, most every shop/jeep tour/operator/chamber office/visitor center/motel lobby/grocery store/etc. sells some books and maybe, if you're lucky, some maps. But it's really hard to know what your choices are or whether you are getting the latest and greatest information. Let's take Richard Mangum's benchmark book, 'Sedona Hikes.' It's pretty much the 'consensus' basic hiking book for Sedona. In our opinion, it's the best. But anyway, we have been looking in various stores for the past several months. Here's what we've found. Most stores are selling 'out-of-date' editions. The current edition is #6 but we have seen most stores selling Editions #3, 4, and 5. Some stores don't have it and some don't know it exists. We actually had to drive to Flagstaff to get Edition #6 at the Barnes and Noble there. Weird? Yes. Topo maps? You'd be lucky to get some store clerks to spell it correctly. The store listed in the first post to this thread is your best bet for topo maps. It's kind of odd that outdoor information about the area is so uncoordinated. The outdoor store listed above is great but most people don't know it exists. If you are coming from out of the area, check Amazon.Com for the most up-to-date editions of all the various hiking books available about Sedona. Simply search for 'sedona hikes.' And anyway, as always, buyer beware!
